camera noise in post

Hey I am thinking about shooting with my cheap 16mm bolex. I have done some tests and its realy loud. I have heard it is possible to dampen camera noise in post, I have also heard its impossible. I have some other ideas but this seems the easiest.

Contrary to misguided popular belief, you can't solve everything in post-production.

Try the "CLerks" route and wrap the thing in lots of leather jackets. I guess you just let it run with no film in and add one layer after another until you can't hear it anymore.

Hi,

A program called COOLEDIT will help with
your problem.

You have to take a sample of the sound you
wish to remove. i.e. record a short sample
of the offending article, which could be the
sound of your camera, air-conditioning unit
or other motor. You then put the recorded
sample into a filter and then COOLEDIT
removes the unwanted sound.


It works quite well.

You cannot remove wind noise or other noises
that are variable, but something like a
motor, that produces a continuous noise
works very well.


Just remember to ask everyone to be quite
while you record a sample of the motor noise.

its the best way
the idea of leather is also good
